Kirill Karabits’s fifteen-year tenure as Chief Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has been marked by visionary programming and widely acclaimed recordings. During this period, the orchestra appeared regularly at the BBC Proms and at London’s Southbank Centre, including performances in his Voices from the East series. A prolific conductor, Karabits has worked with many of the world’s leading ensembles, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Highlights of the 2025/26 season include return engagements with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He also undertakes a major tour of China with Mikhail Pletnev and the Rachmaninoff International Orchestra, performing the complete Rachmaninoff piano concertos. Following appearances at the Macau and Seoul international music festivals, he concludes the season with a two-month residency at the Bregenz Festival, conducting a new production of Verdi’s La traviata with the Wiener Symphoniker.
On the operatic stage, Karabits has conducted productions at the Deutsche Oper, the Opernhaus Zürich, and the Glyndebourne Festival.
Deeply committed to supporting the next generation of musicians, he has served as Artistic Director of the I, CULTURE Orchestra. In recognition of his artistic achievements, Karabits was named Officer of the Order of the British Empire and Conductor of the Year at the 2013 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards.
