In 1977, Alexander Lonquich won First Prize at the Casagrande Competition, and has since then performed in major musical centres around the world.
He has worked with conductors including Claudio Abbado, Emmanuel Krivine, Heinz Holliger, Philippe Herreweghe, and Sándor Végh. His chamber music partners have included Christian Tetzlaff, Nicolas Altstaedt, Vilde Frang, Joshua Bell, Heinrich Schiff, Steven Isserlis, Isabelle Faust, Carolin Widmann, Jörg Widmann, Heinz Holliger, and Frank Peter Zimmermann.
Alexander Lonquich has received important awards from Italian and international critics, including the Diapason d’Or and the Premio Abbiati, and was named “Best Soloist” in 2016.
As conductor and soloist, he has worked among others with the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, the Münchener Kammerorchester, the Camerata Salzburg, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. He is a regular guest at internationally renowned festivals including Lockenhaus, Mozartwoche Salzburg, the Salzburg Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Schubertiade, and the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker in Germany.
Since 2014, Alexander Lonquich has served as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, and since July 2020, he has been Artistic Director of the Fondazione Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
