Principal Conductor and Music Director of the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Kraków Philharmonic. In 2007–15, he served as Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Orchestra, and from 2006 to 2021 he was Principal Guest Conductor of the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra.
His distinctions include the Passport Award of the Polityka weekly (2008), the Coryphaeus of Polish Music Award (2011), the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Prize (2013), the Tansman Prize for Outstanding Musical Personality (2014), and the Honorary Award of the Polish Composers’ Union (2021).
Since 2008, he has prepared premiere performances of the Unknown Operas series at the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, presenting works from different periods, from Gluck to Britten.
He has conducted the Israel Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, Akademie für Alte Musik, the RIAS Kammerchor, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris, PKF Prague Philharmonia, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, and most of Polish symphony orchestras.
Łukasz Borowicz’s discography comprises over 150 albums. His recordings have received ICMA Awards (2015, 2018, and 2025) and the Diapason d’Or on four occasions.
Łukasz Borowicz is a professor at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.
