From 2018 to 2024, Łukasz Hermanowicz served as choir conductor at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, and since November 2024 he has held the position of its choirmaster.
During this time, he prepared the ensemble for 26 new productions and more than 450 repertory performances, working with directors including Mariusz Treliński, David Pountney, Annilese Miskimmon, Marek Weiss, and Barbara Wysocka. Conductors appearing in these productions include Patrick Fournillier, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Bassem Akiki, Łukasz Borowicz, Michał Klauza, Carlo Montanaro, Lothar Koenigs, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Andriy Yurkevych, and Grzegorz Nowak. He has conducted the choirs in productions such as Krzysztof Penderecki’s Die schwarze Maske, Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and La bohème, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Paul Hindemith’s Cardillac, Stanisław Moniuszko’s Halka, and Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes and Billy Budd.
Working with symphonic repertoire, he has conducted ensembles including Capella Bydgostiensis, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra, the Polish Philharmonic Sinfonia Baltica, as well as numerous ad hoc orchestras. He has also recorded works by Zbigniew Bargielski for the DUX label with the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.
