Twenty-three-year-old American pianist Maxim Lando has been described as a “dazzling fire-eater” (ARTS San Francisco) and a “total musical being” (The New Criterion). Praised by The New York Times for his “brilliance and infectious exuberance”, he combines impressive delicacy with a captivating sense of artistic risk.
Maxim first attracted international attention at the age of fourteen, performing alongside Lang Lang and Chick Corea at Carnegie Hall’s 2017 Opening Night Gala. Since then, he has appeared with major ensembles including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, working with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Xian Zhang.
A 3rd Prize winner at the 2024 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Maxim has also received the 2022 Vendôme Grand Prize, First Prize at the New York Franz Liszt International Competition, and the Gilmore Young Artist Award. His international career gained decisive momentum after winning the Young Concert Artists International Auditions at the age of sixteen.
Maxim Lando is an alumnus of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and of The Juilliard School, where he studied with Hung-Kuan Chen.
